Looking for an opportunity to get outside, grow vegetables, get involved in the community, and learn about urban agriculture? Consider an internship with the Lansing Urban Farm Project (LUFP)!
LUFP is offering eight unpaid urban farmer internships for fall 2013. Interns will work with farm staff to winterize farm fields, plant in the hoophouse, weed, tend, and harvest hoophouse crops. Interns will help prepare for markets and farm stands, build community outreach, and complete other farm tasks. Interns will work alongside farm apprentices and farm manager. Qualified applicants will have an interest in urban agriculture, a desire to work as part of a farm team, willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and the ability to perform a diverse set of farm tasks that will include lifting and carrying heavy objects (as much as 40 lbs at times).
Internships will run from September 23-December 6 (excluding the week of Thanksgiving) and will require 4 hours/week of on-site work. The schedule from September 23-November 1 requires that interns complete four hours per week during our operating hours of Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-12:30pm and Thursdays until 4pm. The schedule from November 4-December 6 requires that interns complete four hours per week during our operating hours of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between noon and 4pm. Schedules will be defined in advance of accepting the internship. Call if you have any questions about scheduling!
